A service to celebrate the life of LCPL Rusty Ellis, 48, USMC Veteran, of Camden, SC will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, October 5, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. Military honors will be rendered and interment will follow the service in the cemetery.
The Revs. Ray Robinson and Jimmy Jordan will conduct the service.
Rusty died Saturday, September 30, from injuries sustained in a ATV hunting accident. He was born in Lancaster, a graduate of Lancaster High School, and a loving, dedicated husband and father. He was a current employee of Special Materials Company in Kershaw where he was a truck driver. A proud United States Marine Tank Crewman serving in Desert Storm. Rusty was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home , 2161 Lakeshore Rd., Camden, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior
Project, Toys for Tots, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer and his faithful, working German Shepard and beloved companion Zoey both of the home; 3 daughters, Jeanie Stroud, Justine Ellis, and Jessica (Jonathon) Morris; his parents Russell and Jenny Ellis; his sister, Janice (Glenn) Smith; brother Joel (Jessica) Ellis; sister-in-law Leslie (Dennis) Miller; 5 grandchildren; 8 nieces and 1 nephew; numerous aunts and uncles, and Granny Mungo.
Special family friends include the Baker and Morris families.
