James M. 'Sonny' Russell, Jr.

A funeral service for James M. “Sonny” Russell, Jr., 81 of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Revs. Tony Pope and Don Knight will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Mr. Russell died Thursday, September 4, at White Oak Manor-Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late James M. ,Sr. and Pearl Waters Russell. He retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Mr. Russell was also a US Air Force veteran. Surviving are his wife, Inez Horton Russell of the home; two sons, James Allen Russell and his wife Sherie, Morris L. Russell and his wife Ellenia; a daughter, Donna R. Phillips and her husband Keith all of Kershaw, five grandchildren and two sisters, Marion Payne of Kershaw and Jeanette Horton of Heath Springs. The family will receive friends, Saturday, September 6, one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home, 217 West Fourth Street, Kershaw.
