Inurnment services for James Howard Buchanan, 73, of Kershaw, will be held at 10:00 o’clock a.m., Wednesday, February 21, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. Military honors and Masonic rites will be rendered.
Born in Grove City, PA, Mr. Buchanan was the son of the late James D. and Louise Elizabeth Lauderdale Buchanan. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era where he received a Purple Heart as well as many other service medals. He also was a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211, Jamil Shrine Temple and Kershaw Shrine Club. He loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles and was in the construction industry for many years.
Surviving are 2 sons, Kris (Katya) Buchanan of Kershaw, Carl Buchanan of Saudi Arabia; a granddaughter, Nadya Buchanan; his sister, Carol (Bill) Jenkins of Orlando, FL and a host of friends to cherish his memory.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
A gathering to remember him will be held at a later date which will be announced by the family.
