James Edward Payne

Funeral services for James Edward Payne, 62, will be held Friday, December 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Haile Goldmine Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Jimmy Atkinson and Jackie Jenkins will officiate. Memorials may be made to Haile Goldmine Baptist Church, 7980 Haile Goldmine Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Mr. Payne died at his home Tuesday, December 20. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Jack and Ethel Greene Payne. Mr. Payne had retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Haile Goldmine Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and South Carolina Gamecocks. Surviving are a son, Chris Payne of Columbia; sisters, Jan West (Marvin) of W. Cola., Debra Funderburk (Mike) and Kathy Payne both of Lancaster; brothers, Robert Payne (Diane) of Kershaw, Dave Payne (Sonya) of Jefferson, Ron Payne (Lisa), George Payne (Geanne), and Paul Payne (Paula) all of Kershaw. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Payne. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
