Funeral service for James D. Jimmy Sanders, 74, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 19, in Jefferson First Baptist Church, Jefferson, S.C. Rev. George Ferrell and Marty Quick will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later time in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C.
Mr. Sanders died Tuesday, June 16, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Taylors, S.C., he was the son of the late George Furman and Jamie Lindsey Sanders. He was a former employee of Grace Bleachery of Springs Industries and retired from Dupont Company. Mr. Sanders was a member of Jefferson First Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon, Sunday School Director and on the Building Committee for the new Fellowship Hall. He was a member of Macedonia Masonic Lodge # 239 and had served as secretary for a number of years and past master. He was a shriner and a member of Scottish Rite and York Rite. Mr. Sanders also served in the US Air Force.
Surviving are his wife; Nancy Gardner Sanders of the home, a son; David Sanders and his wife Angie, a daughter; Amy S. Pierce and her husband Darryl all of Jefferson, five grandchildren; Travis Sanders and his wife Tiffany, Chase Sanders and his wife Torrie, Ben Pierce, Markus Pierce and Lindsay Pierce, three sisters; Mary Harmon, Sue Almeida both of Charleston, S.C. and Rachael Boyd and her husband Jimmy of Ravenel, S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, Friday, June 19, from 1:00 2:30 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall of Jefferson First Baptist Church, Jefferson, S.C. prior to the service.
