James Bobby Roberts

James Bobby Roberts, 84, of Kershaw, SC, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at his home. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Enoch and Bertha Horton Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Suzanne L. Roberts; a son James K. Roberts and his wife Tammy of Kershaw; a daughter Sandra R. Bennett and her husband Ray of Cassatt; a sister Robbie Cobb and her husband Thad of Lugoff; 4 grandchildren, April Hibbert and her husband Anthony, Jamie Williams, Justin Williams and Joshua Bennett; 3 great grandchildren Madison Hibbert, Sophia Hibbert and Riley Hibbert.

He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Agnes Blackmon, Sarah Tucker, Susie Reeves, Johnny Mae Roberts, Louise Mason and a granddaughter Leila Hope Roberts.

Mr. Roberts served his country in the Navy where he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a United Nations Service medal.

He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Buffalo Rescue Squad for 30 years and also had served as Captain. He retired from Dupont Co., served as a member of the Water Board for Bethune Rural Water Company, a Mason and volunteered for the United Way.

Funeral services will be held at Buffalo Baptist Church, Tuesday, April 11th at 2:00 PM and the family will receive friends in the church sanctuary, Tuesday, April 11th from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery with family only attending.
