Funeral service for Jack Harold Deaton, 76, will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, June 5, in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. James Way will officiate.
Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late J.E. and Effie Lillian Adams Deaton. Mr. Deaton died Tuesday, June 2, in Springs Memorial Hospital. He was a former employee of the Kendall Co., Bethune and retired from Springs Industries. Also, he was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and a US Army veteran. Mr. Deaton was married to the late Mae Phillips Deaton.
Surviving are a brother; Leroy Springs Deaton and his wife Jackie of Aiken, a sister; Mary Deaton Neal and her husband Ernest of Myrtle Beach, six step-children; Richard Phillips and his wife Sandy, Wayne Phillips and his wife Judy, Peggy Catoe and her husband Earl, Clara Sowell, Jimmy Phillips and his wife Ann, Tricia Schakett and her husband Doug all of Kershaw and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; James Earl Deaton, John Calvin Deaton and William Thomas Deaton
The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at Baker Funeral Home.
