Mr. Jack Gardner, 84, of Kershaw passed away surrounded by family and friends on October 1, 2011. He was born on August 2, 1927, in Kershaw, a son of the late Burrell Daniel Gardner and Lula Taylor Gardner. Mr. Gardner is survived by a son, Mike Gardner and his wife Janice of Kershaw, a daughter, Janet Mullinax and her husband Stephen of Rock Hill: a very special friend, Maxine Roberts of Kershaw and her family, five grandchildren: Shane Gardner, Benny Gardner, Caroline Mullinax, Courtney Mullinax, Angie Brown, five great grandchildren, a sister; Sara Onorato of Woodside, N.Y. and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert Gardner, Sr., Howard Gardner and Wendell Gardner, three sisters; Lucille Neal, Elsie Barfield and Hattie Belle Bailey. Mr. Gardner served in the U. S. Army and the 82nd Airborne Division. In addition to his military service, he was a retiree of E. I. Dupont Co. in Camden. Mr. Gardner was also a member of James Leroy Belk American Legion, Camden, Abney Masonic Lodge # 211 and a life long member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gardner will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 4, in Sand Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Chadwick Ivester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mike Gardner, 1165 Winterwood Rd.
