A graveside service for Johnnie Blake Floyd, 93 of Kershaw will be held at 4:00 o’clock p.m., Thursday, September 17, in Kershaw City Cemetery. Mr. Floyd’s son-in-law, Steve Brooks will conduct the service. Military honors and Masonic rites will be rendered.
Mr. Floyd, loving husband of the late Mamie Pardue Floyd died Monday evening, September 14, at his home. Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Thomas Johnson and Mae Sims Floyd. Mr. Floyd was a electrical engineer retiring twice, first from Dupont Co. and second from Duke Power. He attended Mars Hill College and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He also was a farmer, raising cows and horses. Mr. Floyd served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of Abney Masonic Lodge# 211.
Surviving are four daughters, Gail Bowers, Diane Arrants (Wendell), Robin Floyd and Dawn Brooks (Steve); nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends at the home, 616 West Hilton Street, Kershaw.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Floyd may be made to the Veteran’s Memorial, c/o Town of Kershaw, P.O. Box, 145, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
