Isaac Gerald Cox

Isaac Gerald Cox, 86 of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and formerly of Kershaw, South Carolina, went to join his beloved wife, Doris Dale Clemons Cox on Monday, August 24, 2015. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m., Saturday, August 29th at Center Grove Baptist Church, Kershaw. Rev. Dr. Sam Catoe will officiate. A committal service will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with Military Honors.

Isaac was born November 12, 1928, in Kershaw, South Carolina. His parents were the late E.W. Cox, Sr. and Lena Catoe Cox. He was predeceased by brothers, Dock Ernest, E.W. Cox, Jr., Olin Cox, Roy Cox and sisters, Leila Jane Spencer, Evelyn Deaton, Elsie Lazaechick and Louise Kringle.

Surviving are his sisters, Mary Bayne, Betty Ann Cox and his brother, Frank Cox. Also surviving are three children, Jimmy, Deborah, and Patricia, and six grandchildren.

Isaac finished Kershaw High School and went to the University of South Carolina. After High School, he went into the Air Force where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Florida and California during the Korean War. His working career was spent at Dupont Co. in Lugoff, SC, where he was a instrument mechanic. While at Dupont Co., he also sold real estate for DeLoach Realty. Isaac loved to hunt dove and quail. He played football in high school and also played softball and bowled until he was 84 years old. Isaac loved to watch tennis on television, and he never missed watching the Gamecocks and Clemson. He was a Mason and Boy Scout Master for many years as well. One of his proudest moments was being the Building Committee Chairman for Center Grove Baptist Church. He was not only a father to his children, but also a friend.

The family will receive friends following the burial at the cemetery.
