The family will hold a service to celebrate the life of Hazel Starnes, 61, of Kershaw at 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, in Southside Ministries, Pageland. Rev. Frank Alexander will officiate. Mr. Starnes died Sunday, February 5, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of Vance and Della Albright Ivey Starnes. He was a logger and a member of Good News Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Starnes also loved to fish, sing and listen to music and sit under the shade tree. He was most proud of his family that he loved dearly. Surviving are his wife Betty Sue Deas Starnes of the home, 2 daughters, Betty S. Terry and her friend Billy Dollarhyde of Kershaw; Tina Eason and her husband James of Pageland; 2 sons, Hazel Starnes, Jr. and his friend Amanda of Kershaw and Vance Starnes and his wife Sonya of Camden; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 sisters, Martha Poston of Kershaw, Peggy Collins of Lancaster; 2 brothers, William B. Starnes and Fred C. Starnes both of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a brother, Zeb Starnes. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 8, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the home, 2074 Jones Rd., Kershaw. Mr. Starnes’s body will be available for viewing from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O.
