Harvey Odell Phillips

A funeral service for Harvey Odell Phillips, 87, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m., Wednesday, August 30, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The Revs. Todd Montgomery and Steve Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips died Sunday, August 27, at his home. Born in York, he was a son of the late William Luther and Annie Mae Blocker Phillips. He retired from Springs Industries, Grace Bleachery. He was of Baptist faith and loved to fish.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Louise Usher Phillips of Kershaw; 3 sisters, Lois P. Truesdale of Kershaw, Mildred P. Payne of Kershaw and Loree P. (Larry) Caldwell of Westville; a brother, Waldo (Carolyn) Phillips of Kershaw and special niece Debbie Edwards and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Odell Phillips, Jr.; a brother, William “Bill” Phillips and 2 sisters, Esther P. Faile and Jackie P. Truesdale.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, August 30, one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 o’clock p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.
