A celebration of life memorial service for Harry Ossian Stoddard, 88, of Kershaw, SC, will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, at White Bluff Baptist Church. Rev. Doug Humphries will officiate. Burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Stoddard, born in Gray Court, SC, to the late Lander Boyd Stoddard and Selina Roberts Stoddard died Tuesday, October 30, 2018. He graduated from the Citadel in 1951 winning the “Star of the West” in 1949. After serving in the Korean Conflict, he graduated from USC in 1959 earning a degree in engineering and served as a Captain in the Army reserves. Mr. Stoddard designed air handling systems as his career of 35 years. During his career he served as president of Atlanta Home Builders Association and later in life volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Lancaster County. He was an active member of White Bluff Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and singing in the church choir. Mr. Stoddard also supported a charity in India.

He retired to what he called the country and enjoyed golf and long walks in his woods. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mabel Louise Stoddard; children, Lander B. (Ann) Stoddard, Kelly (Sid) Wooten, Cindy (Ken) Ray, Alan (Daye) Roberts, Gloria (Price) Harvey and Gary (Vicky) Roberts; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Eugene Stoddard. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by siblings, Selina Hopkins, Robert Stoddard, Boyd Stoddard, Carolina Culbertson and Charles Stoddard.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff of C.M. Tucker, Jr., Nursing Center for their love and compassionate care during Harry’s final days.
