A funeral service for Harry Lee Morgan, 98 of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 14, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bart Miles will officiate. Burial will follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Morgan died Monday, July 11, at Springdale Healthcare, Camden. Born in the Flat Creek community of Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Yancey Thomas and Minnie Parker Morgan. Mr. Morgan retired from J.P. Stevens Co. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Morgan served in the Anti Tank Company of the 22nd Infantry Regiment and participated in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, the Battle of the Bulge and the occupation of Germany.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Willie Mae Morgan; 4 brothers, Yancey Thomas Morgan, Jr., Jack Morgan, Frank Morgan and Smith Morgan, and a sister, Doris Tolbert.
Surviving are his daughter, Dolores Derrick and her husband Jeff of Richmond Hill, Georgia; 2 sons, Dennis Morgan and his wife Cynthia of Columbia and Randy Morgan and his wife Sandra of Heath Springs; 4 grandchildren, Beth (David) Williams of Richmond Hill, Georgia, David (Johannah) Morgan of James Island, Richard Morgan of Columbia and Eric Morgan of Heath Springs; 3 great grandchildren, Kate and Owen Williams and Edward Cravens and a sister, Frances Beckham of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, at Baker Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff members of Springdale Healthcare for their kind care of Mr. Morgan during his last years.
