Funeral services for Harry J. Taylor, 71, of Kershaw, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2018, from the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Rev. Todd Montgomery will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Memorial Park, Lancaster.
Mr. Taylor died Thursday, July 26, at Atrium Health, CMC, Charlotte, N.C. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Earl Jefferson Taylor and Mary Ellen Dease Taylor. Mr. Taylor retired from Bowers Fibers and was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding in his boat. He also loved the time he spent with his grandchildren. Mr. Taylor served in the United States Navy during Vietnam and was a purple heart recipient.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Frances Bailey Taylor; a daughter, Shona Taylor Boatwright and her husband, Michael; 2 grandchildren, Taylor Boatwright and Leah Boatwright all of Kershaw; a sister, June (Bruce) Robinson of Lancaster and 2 brothers, Rabon Taylor and Dennis Taylor both of Kershaw. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Mae Blackmon Taylor and his maternal grandparents, Jim Allen and Lois Lula Horton Dease.
The family will receive friends, Sunday, July 29, one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 o’clock p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.
