Funeral services for Harriet Gregory Heriot, 91 of Camden, will be held at 1:00 o’clock pm, Thursday, April 11, at Grace Episcopal Church. Father Picket Wall will officiate. Burial will be private in the Old Rembert Church Cemetery, Woodrow community at a later date.
Mrs. Heriot passed away, Saturday, April 6, at her home. Born in Charleston, she was a daughter of the late George Winfield Gregory and Hallie Venters Gregory. Mrs. Heriot was a writer, editor and civil rights advocate. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College and received her master’s degree from Columbia University in journalism. She was also a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan Heriot Luke; her son, George Gregory Heriot; 5 grandchildren, Tonya Cheatwood, Shane Heriot, Rebekah Bradley, Sarah Habersberger and Nora Sprigg; 10 great grandchildren; her brother, Jackson Venters Gregory and her sister, Susan Gregory Parker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert LaRoche Heriot; her son, Robert LaRoche “Bob” Heriot, Jr. and her brother, George Winfield Gregory, Jr.
The family will hold a reception immediately following the service at her home.
