Harold Wayne Sowell, Sr.

Funeral services for Harold Wayne Sowell, Sr., 64, of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Thorn Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Rev. Steve Mackey and Mr. Toby Vincent will officiate. Mr. Sowell died Saturday, July 28, at his home. Born in Camden, he was the son of Myrtis Ann Faulkenberry Sowell and the late Paul Harold Sowell. He was retired from Dupont Company and a member of Thorn Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 178 where he had served twice as past master and Kershaw Shrine Club. Mr. Sowell also enjoyed farming, raising cows and fishing. Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Pamela Ferguson Sowell of the home; a son, Harold Wayne Sowell, Jr. and his wife Holly of Pageland; a daughter, Paula Sowell Taylor of Irmo; a step-son, Robert Earl Knight and his companion Tim of Jacksonville, FL, 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Wanda S. Williams (Stephen) of Little River, Ginger Kozelski (Ken) of Camden and Amy Sigman (Ike) of Liberty Hill. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, July 31, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1756 Three C’s Road, Kershaw.
