Funeral services for Harold Lester Williams, 79, of Kershaw will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011, in Kershaw Second Baptist . Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Don Knight and Mr. Wade Hunter will officiate.

Mr. Williams died Monday, May 2, in KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Sandy A. and Chloe Herring Williams. Mr. Williams was the retired owner of Williams Barber Service. He was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Williams was very active in his community, serving on the Kershaw Town Council for 8 years, a member of Abney Lodge # 211, a Shriner and a member of Hejaz temple. He played Uncle Sam for more than 25 years for the Charlesboro and Heath Springs Fourth of July parades and celebration. Mr. Williams served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He was married to the late Mary Ann Hicks Williams.

Surviving are a daughter; Teresa W. Robinson and her husband Sonny of Lexington, a son; Mitch Williams and his wife Carol of Kershaw, 6 grandchildren; Mitch Williams, Jr. (Suzanne) of Camden, Brooks Robinson (Amanda) of Lexington, Sheri Williams of Charlotte, Shaun Williams (Meghan) of Kershaw, Courtney Bacot of Lexington, Shea Robinson of Lexington and 4 great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Edward T. Williams (Mary Evelyn) of West Columbia, Grady Williams (Pauline) of Lugoff, Hubert Williams of Ridgeway, 4 sisters; Audrey Criminger of Kershaw, Shirley McKinney of West Columbia, Peggy Small (George) of Kershaw and Polly Melton (Douglas) of Cayce. Also surviving are his sister in law; Patsy Holden (Willie) of Camden and a brother-in-law; Harry Hicks (Ethel) of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Howard A. Williams, Paul Williams and Frank Williams and a sister; Maxine W. Faile. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, at Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home, 101N. Rollins Ave., Kershaw.
