Funeral service for Gus Hazel Vincent, 90, of 113 Survey Street, Lancaster will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2009, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Gus Vanderbilt and Virgie Catoe Vincent. Mr. Vincent died Thursday evening, April 16, 2009, in Springs Memorial Hospital. He was retired from Springs Industries. Mr. Vincent was a member of White Springs Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher, deacon and choir member. He enjoyed golfing and playing music. He served in the US Navy during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Alma Talbert Vincent of the home, two sons; Claude Vincent and his wife Betty of Lancaster, Fred Vincent and his wife Cecile, and a daughter; Doris Faile and her husband , Elton all of Kershaw, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, five sisters; Lorene Gardner and Anna Grace Hinson both of Kershaw, Nell Lucy of New Orleans, LA, Katie Hinson and Ruby McCaskill both of Camden. He was preceded in death by a son; Robert Vincent, three brothers; John Lewis Vincent, Willie J. Vincent, Howard Vincent, and three sisters; Aileen Vincent, Estelle Twitty and Mae Truesdale.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 2:30 to 4:00 prior to the service at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw.
