Grenfell M. Leonard

Grenfell MacLaren Leonard, age 85 of Kershaw, S.C. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, December 31, 2024, at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center, Camden, S.C. Born in Beaumont, Texas, he was a son of the late Rev. Elijah Matthew Leonard and Sarah Elizabeth Preston Leonard. Mr. Leonard retired from the E.I. DuPont Company. He served his county in the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a faithful member of Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 178 where he had served in various positions. Mr. Leonard was a member, past deacon and youth leader at Bethany Baptist Church, Westville, S.C.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Esther Orvis Gray Leonard; 3 sons, John D. (Suzie) Prosser, James D. (Evelyn) Prosser and Joel D. (Lisa) Prosser; his sister, Beth L. (Jerry) Allen. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dwight Leonard and Winston Leonard and 2 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon January 4, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Leonard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, January 5, 2025, in the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church. Rev. Craigan Blankenship will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors and masonic rites.
