Funeral services for Grace Rodgers West, 78, of Kershaw, SC, will be held Sunday, May 14, at 4:00 o’clock p.m. in Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Todd Gandy and Mike Hammond will officiate.

Mrs. West died Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, SC. Born in Camden, SC, she was the daughter of the late Manning and Linnie H. Rodgers. She retired from the DuPont Company in 1992 and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was a substitute school teacher and drove a school bus before retiring a second time. Mrs. West was a member of the four time state champion Midway High School basketball team, from where she graduated. She loved being a mother to all.

Surviving are 2 sons, Mitchell West and Phillip West both of Kershaw, SC; 3 grandchildren, Curtis West (Monica), Samantha Connell (Jeremy) and Courtney Greene (Steven); 6 great grandchildren, Greta West, Tanner Stephens, Hayley Russell, West Connell, Gauge West and Hunter Greene; a sister, Shelby Watts (Joe) of Camden, SC; a brother, “Bootsie” Rodgers (Vivian) of Cassatt, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robin West in 1976 and 3 brothers, James “Cotton” Rodgers, Clyburn Rodgers, and Wayne Rodgers.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Samantha Connell.
