Grace Hasty Gay

Funeral services for Grace Vernon Hasty Gay, 97, of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Hanging Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate. Mrs. Gay, widow of Curtis Clyde Gay died Tuesday, March 26, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Lewis and Ella Frances Rollins Hasty. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Gay enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling places listening to music and gardening. Surviving are her daughter; Brenda G. Sims, her son; Wayne (Krishna) Gay all of Kershaw, 4 grandchildren; Tammy S. (Shane) Hinson, Kevin (Adina) Gay, Travis Gay and his fiance Keri, Anna Diaz , a great granddaughter; Gabrielle Feliberty, a sister-in-law; Ruby Williams and a brother-in-law; Cleveland Sowell. Also surviving is her special friend and caregiver; LeAnn Sowell Walters. She was preceded in death by a sister; Eva Sowell, 2 brothers; Carl Hasty, L.A. “Bert” Hasty and a son-in-law; Bobby Sims. The family will receive friends, Thursday, March 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 301 West Street, Kershaw.
