Funeral services for Glenda Hendrix Ellis, 81, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 6, 2008, in Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Don Knight and Hugh McKinney will officiate.



Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Rowell Hendrix. Mrs. Ellis died Saturday, October 4, 2008, in Kershaw County Medical Center, Camden. She was retired from Springs Industries. Mrs. Ellis was a faithful worker in her church, serving in the nursery department for many years , member of benevolent committee and was a member of the Joy Group. She was also a member of Kershaw Senior Citizens Group.



Surviving are her husband of 57 years; Norman Ellis, a daughter; Norma Jean Mobley and her husband Alton of Columbia, two sons; Jerome Ellis and his wife Robbie of Kershaw, Jimmy Ellis and his wife Ruth of Columbia, six grandchildren; Alison Mobley of Spartanburg , Paul Mobley of Fort Mill, Will Ellis, James Clay Ellis, Susan Ellis, Macie Ellis all of Columbia, a sister; Juanita Hendrix , a brother; Perry Hendrix and his wife Iva Lee all of Kershaw. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Walter Hendrix, Rev. Leonard Hendrix , J.E. Hendrix and three sisters; Suelee Hilton, Lyda B. Stogner and Ethel Catoe.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, Building Fund, 7737 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.



The family will receive friends Sunday evening, October 5, 2008, from 5 to 7 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home 7630 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw.
