Glenda Hinson Faulkenberry

Glenda Hinson Faulkenberry, age 84, of Lancaster, S.C. passed away, Saturday morning, February 8, 2025, at her home. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George Dewey Hinson and Blanche H. Hinson. Mrs. Faulkenberry was a retired educator and seamstress. She was a graduate of Flat Creek High School, Class of 1959, received her B.S. from Clemson College and was a member of White Bluff Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C. She married the love of her life, Roy Donald Faulkenberry. They were married for 42 years before his passing in 2001.

Mrs. Faulkenberry retired from Lancaster County Career Center, where she was an Industrial Sewing Instructor for 29 years. Her passion was sewing blankets, pillows and dresses. She had made over 1000 dresses and shipped them to Dresses for Africa. She had a giving heart. She supported her family in many ways by attending church activities, sporting events, plays, ring ceremonies, graduations and birthday parties. She cherished the time with her family during vacations. She enjoyed traveling with her Young at Heart Group. They traveled out west and back for a two-week trip.

Most of all she loved Jesus and her daughter, Lisa. Lisa was her world. Everything she did was for her. She was very proud of her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Faulkenberry Taylor and her husband, Charles Taylor of Lancaster, S.C.; her sister, Margaret H. Phillips of Lancaster, S.C.; her brother, Danny Larry Hinson of Kershaw, S.C.; 2 sisters-in-law, Oleen Hinson Adcock and Shirley J. Hinson both of Kershaw, S.C.; her special niece and caregiver, Denise H. Roberts and numerous other nieces and nephews including her niece Candice H. Phillips who was like a daughter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Howard Lee Hinson, Mack George Hinson and Nolan Dewey Hinson and a sister, Robbie H. Thomas.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, February 13, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C.

A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon, February 14, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in Lancaster Memorial Park, 1389 Memorial Park Road, Lancaster, S.C. The Rev. Dr. Jackie Jenkins and Mr. Brian Hinson will officiate. The burial will follow in the Memorial Park.
