Gerald Lamar Townsend

Gerald Lamar Townsend, 82, of Kershaw, SC, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born in Winters, TX, he was the son of the late Gerald and Lily Pearl Griffin Townsend. He served in the United States Army and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Townsend retired from The Charlotte Observer after 37 years of service and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Lynn Cagle.

Left to cherish his memory is his caregiver, Shanna Hurlburt.

A private burial will be held at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
