Gerald Scott Newman

Funeral services for Gerald Scott Newman, 36, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010, in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Terry Corder and Dr. Clay Shook will officiate.

Scott died Saturday, October 23, in Hospice and Community Care, Rock Hill. Born in Camden, he was the son of William C. Bill and Cora Lee Sullivan Newman. He was a graduate of North Central High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College for 2 years. He enjoyed fishing, basketball and grilling outdoors. Mr. Newman was an employee of Target Distribution Center, Lugoff and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents of Bethune are his wife; Angela Horner Newman, a son; Dylan Scott Newman of the home, 3 brothers; Marvin Newman (Leda) of Ponte Vedra, FL, Charlie Newman (Carol) of Rock Hill, Jeff Newman (Marion) of Lexington, nieces; Katie Chambers, Marissa Hyatt, Carley Newman, Nikki Horner, nephews; Austin Newman, Wesley Newman, Jake Newman, Joshua Newman, Dalton Horner and Chase Horner.

The family will receive friends, Monday, October 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home of his parents, 5013 Newman Road, Bethune.
