George P. Gardner

Funeral services for George P. Gardner, 93, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 25, 2012, in Buffalo Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Revs. Donald Coppedge and James Way will officiate. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, 6390 Lockhart Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. in the Church Sanctuary. Mr. Gardner died Wednesday, May 23. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late John and Katie Johnson Gardner. He had retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and served in various other capacities. Mr. Gardner was also a US Marine veteran having served in World War II. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. He was predeceased by wives, Eva Mae Vincent Gardner and Virginia Johnson Gardner; sisters, Bertha Pittman, Eva Threatt, Marie Roberts, and Addie Hegler; brothers, Harry, Miles, Melvin, and Thurman Gardner.
