George Marshall Stokes

George Marshall Stokes, 70, of Bethune, S.C., passed away, Saturday, May 15, 2021, at his home. Born in Florence, S.C., he was a son of the late Charles Lawton Stokes and Patsy Anne Goodson Stokes. Mr. Stokes retired from Cal-Maine Foods Inc. as the shop foreman. He enjoyed shooting skeet and had a giving heart. He loved his Boston terrier, Tuff.

He is survived by his brother, Danny Stokes and his wife, Phoebe of Lamar, S.C.; nieces and nephews, Carla Stokes Lee and her husband, Austin of Franklin, TN, Brad Stokes and his wife, Kelly and their children, Amelia and Natalie of Rangeley, ME, Robyn Lamb and her husband, Nathan and their children, Kalyan, Brock and Brelan of Swainsboro, GA and special friend, Lisa Huckabee of Bethune, S.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Carlene Meeks Stokes and a brother, Earl Stokes.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 6:00 o’clock p.m., Friday, May 21, 2021, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C. Pastor Rebecca Forrest, minster of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hartsville, S.C. will officiate. Burial will be in the Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, GA.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials remembrances may be directed to Thiel-Meyer Pet Adoption Center, 128 Black River Road, Camden, S.C. 29020.
