A service to celebrate the life of George Marinko, 91, of Kershaw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Westville, S.C. with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Rev. Angela Jennings will officiate. Mr. Marinko, loving husband of 64 years to Evelyn Faulkenberry Marinko died Saturday, September 1, at KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Sharon, PA., he was the son of the late John and Mary Marenchin Marinko. He retired from Sharon Steel Corp. and was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Camden. He also was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving during WW II, member of Sokols, Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 178, Kershaw and was active in the Boy Scouts and his church in Hermitage, PA. when he lived there. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Thomas George Marinko and Paul Henry Marinko; 2 brothers, Michael Marinko of Warren, OH., Albert E. Marinko of Hermitage, PA. and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John E. Marinko of Florence, S.C., Andrew Marinko, killed in action during WW II and 2 sisters, Marian Sereday of Masury, OH. and Emma Murchek of Sharon, PA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
