Funeral services for George Lewis Taylor, 89, of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2011, in Charlesboro Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Blackmon Cemetery. The Revs. Larry Plyler and Steve Neal will officiate. Mr. Taylor, widower of Reba Jewell Faile Taylor, died Friday, September 23, in National HealthCare-Parklane, Columbia. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Walter Raleigh and Nettie Belk Taylor. He was a member of Charlesboro Baptist Church an avid gardener. Mr. Taylor enjoyed sharing his produce he grew with everyone in his community. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran serving as a gunner and watchman for ships going to D-Day. Surviving are daughters; Carolyn Petroski (Jeff) of Lancaster, SC, Cynthia Robinson (Fred) of Goose Creek, SC, 5 grandchildren; Patrick Campbell, Rockville, MD, Reggie Campbell, Lancaster, SC, Kimberly Robinson, Burbank CA, Amy Robinson, Burbank, CA, and Shannon P. McKenzie (William) of Wellford, SC . He was preceded in death by brothers; Frank Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, Heath Taylor, and sisters; Louise Cunningham, Ruth Robertson and Jeanette Dabney. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
