George Benjamin Morrow, Sr.

A Memorial service celebrating the life of George Benjamin Ben Morrow, Sr. , 77, will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, March 8, 2009, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Kershaw. The Revs. Bryant D. Fersner and Dr. George Crow will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Ben went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2009 at his home. Born in Summerton, S.C., he was the son of the late John Charles and Aline Ridgill Morrow.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1949 and retired in 1970. After retiring from the Army, he graduated from Midlands Technical College with a associate degree in respiratory therapy. He worked at Providence Hospital in Columbia for seventeen years as a therapist until he retired in 1989.

Mr. Morrow was a life member of Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 178, a member of the American Legion Post # 63, a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the the Fallaw Sunday School Class. Prior to moving to Kershaw in 1994, he was a member at Northeast Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Columbia, S.C.

Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy Jeane Chestnut Morrow, of the home, two daughters; Ruth C. Morrow of Kershaw, Carla M. Ingle of Lake Wateree and her husband Richard, a son; George B. Morrow, Jr. and his wife Donna of Kershaw, three grandchildren; Cecila Morrow, Marci Morrow and Zack Morrow, two great grandchildren; Hannah and Mariah. He was preceded in death by a brother; William Curtis Morrow.
