Genolia Deese

A funeral service for Genolia Shaw “Jean” Deese, 86 of Kershaw will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Midway Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Todd Gandy will officiate. Mrs. Deese, loving wife of 68 years to Fred Albert Deese died Thursday, January 17, at Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. Born in Chesterfield, she was the daughter of the late Walter Shaw and Maggie Walters Shaw Powell. Mrs. Deese was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband of Kershaw are nieces and nephews, including her niece Susan Byrd and her husband Danny of Jefferson who were her caretakers. She was predeceased by a infant son, brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends, Saturday, January 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the Byrd home, 6069 Mt. Pisgah Rd., Jefferson, SC.
