Gary Eugene Self

A funeral service for Gary Eugene Self, 58 of Jefferson, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Tuesday, October 20, in the sanctuary of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.

Mr. Self died Saturday, October 17, at his home. Born in Lancaster, SC, he was a son of the late Robert Franklin and Loraine Bowers Self. He retired from Bi-Lo Grocery. Mr. Self loved Gamecock football, the Dallas Cowboys, bowling, and spending time with his children and family. He also loved being a little league ball coach. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1975 and served in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Self attended Antioch Baptist Church and was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Christopher Lee (Susan) Self; a daughter, Amanda Kay Self; 3 brothers, William, Jimmy and Robert Kenneth Self; a sister, Peggy Woolwine; a special nephew, Ben Faile; special friends, Gloria and Will Jackson; his companion; Melba Sims and his former wife, Anita D. Self all of Jefferson.

The family will receive friends, Monday, October 19, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home.
