Fredrick E. "Freddy" Williams

Fredrick E. Williams, 80, of Kershaw, S.C. passed away, Friday, January 31, 2025. Born in Lancaster, S.C. he was a son of the late Bud Fred Williams and Bertie Phillips Williams. Mr. Williams was a retired educator and coach. He graduated from Kershaw High School, continued his education obtaining his B.S. degree from the University of South Carolina and continued taking courses toward his master’s degree. He taught in the Lancaster County School System for 30 years. He was the Head Coach for the Andrew Jackson High School Junior Varsity Football Team and Assistant coach for the Varsity Football Team. He also served as the Head Coach for the Andrew Jackson Girls Basketball Team. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at his lake house he referred to as “Cliff Hanger”, fishing and grilling. He was an avid Gamecock sports fan.

He is survived by his son, Joseph F. Williams and his wife, Michelle; his daughter, Jennifer W. Ridings and her husband, Mike; 6 grandchildren, Ari, Evan, Ethan, Talan, Owen and Colin and 2 great grandchildren, John William “J.W.” and Emeri “Emi”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Diane Griffin Williams and his brother, Joseph Alfred Williams.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Rev. T. Jason Moss will officiate. The burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. 

The family will greet friends following the committal service in the cemetery.

Memorial remembrances in memory of Mr. Williams may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
