Funeral services for Frances Gay Simpson Sigler, 93, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Anita Bozardt and Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.
Mrs. Sigler, widow of Royal S. Roy Sigler, Jr. died peacefully at her home, Saturday, September 12, 2009. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Lillius DeKalb and Nannie Gay Simpson. Mrs. Sigler was a graduate of Coker College. She was the retired owner of Simpson's Drug Store and had previously taught school. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church where she had served in many capacities.
Surviving are her son; Richard S. Sigler, Sr. of Kershaw, two grandchildren; Richard S. Stephen Sigler, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Sigler both of Danville, VA., three sisters- in- law; Betty Sigler of Mansfield, Ohio, Sarah Oxender and Graceann Martin both of Ashland, Ohio, numerous cousins and special caregiver; Mrs. Alice Singleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 305 W. Church St., Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
The family will receive friends following the graveside committal service at the cemetery.
