Floyd Milton Phillips, Sr

Funeral services for Floyd Milton Phillips, Sr., 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010, in Flint Ridge Baptist Church, Heath Springs. The Revs. Kelvin Hinson and Steve Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips died Sunday morning, October 24, in the A. Sam Karesh Longterm Care, Camden. Born in York, S.C., he was the son of the late Leroy and Belva Sims Phillips. He retired from the US Army having served 20 years and was a former employee of Dupont Co.
Mr. Phillips was a member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church and also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. Mr. Phillips served our country in the US Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years; Lula Long Phillips of the home, a daughter; Pam Hunter (Glenn) and a son; Milton Phillips (Kay) all of Kershaw, 2 grandchildren; Lacey Lowery (Jason) and Josh Hunter, a great grandson; Gaige Lowery, his sister; Mary Evelyn Williams (Edward) of West Columbia and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Meagan Phillips.

The family will receive friends, Monday, October 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 403 Floyd Phillips Road, Kershaw.

Memorial contributions may be made to Flint Ridge Baptist Church-Building Fund, 1850 Flint Ridge Road, Heath Springs, S.C. 29058.
