Eva Brock Maloney, 107, widow of Rev. Dr. J.L. Maloney, DD, daughter of the late John William and Minnie Cox Brock died peacefully in her sleep September 27, at her home. She was born in Abbeville County, SC, on May 26, 1909. Mrs. Maloney attended Erskine College after graduating from Honea Path High School in 1927. She was a dietitian at Bonclarken Hotel, Flat Rock, NC, Associate Reformed Presbyterian Assembly Grounds for several years. She served as pianist at Oak Ridge ARP Church for 30 years and a substitute pianist at Pleasant Hill ARP Church. Mrs. Maloney was active in the Women’s work at both church as well as Bible teacher of the Ladies Class at Pleasant Hill for several years. She also started The Maloney Women’s Circle at Oak Ridge.
She was predeceased by her husband and a son, James William Maloney
.
She is survived by her 2 daughters; Judith M. O’Conner and Sharon M. Shute and her husband Daniel Wilson Shute, Jr.; a grandson, Daniel Brock Shute and his wife Alisha Nicole Shute, and a great-grandson, Bentley Brock Shute.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw. The Revs. Glenn Welsford, Dwight Pearson and Roy Beckham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery, Heath Springs, SC, in the Maloney family plot.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 30, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
