Ernest Calvin West

Funeral services for Ernest Calvin West, 92, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 13, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.

Mr. West died Monday, January 11, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Dalton C. and Winnie Crow West. Mr. West was a contractor . He built and remodeled many a home in Kershaw and the surrounding areas. He was a true gentleman who believed in a strong work ethic and loved politics. He was married to Glenda Truesdale West.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years of Kershaw, a daughter; Annie Blake W. Sims and her husband Jabo, a son; Calvin West and his wife Pat all of Kershaw, six grandchildren; Chris Connell (Lisa) of Charleston, Denise Phillips (Joe Reed) of Kershaw, Tracy Davis (Annie) of Kershaw, Dr. Michael West of Florence, Matthew West of Kershaw and Keplyn West (Tommy) of Pawleys Island , six great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, a brother; J.W. West (Catherine) of Mooresville, N.C., and a sister; Faye W. Bennett of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by a brother; D.T. West and a sister; Myrtle Faulkenberry.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 12, from 5 to 7 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home.
