Emmett Horton

A graveside service for Emmett Horton, 86 of Heath Springs, S.C. will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, S.C. Rev. Dave Sanders will officiate. Mr. Horton died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, S.C. Born in the Angelus community of Chesterfield County, he was a son of the late Robert and Ella McPherson Horton. He was a farmer and loved working in his garden. Mr. Horton was also a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Kershaw. Surviving are his special friend and companion, Nancy Blackmon of Pleasant Hill; 3 sisters, Sadie DelVecchio of Hanson, Mass., Martha Bradley of Bethune, Bemice Sue Holley of Jefferson; a brother, Jamie Horton of Jefferson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Verdie Knight Horton; 2 sisters, Nola Horton, Ernestine Jowers and 4 brothers, Chester Horton, Bobby Horton, Richard Horton and Hazel Horton. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
