Elwood D. Truesdale

A funeral service for Elwood Donald Truesdale, 74, of Kershaw, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2017, in the sanctuary of Pineview Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Revs. Hank Fanning, David Robinson, Larry Humphries and Cotton Pate will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 o’clock p.m.in the church Family Life Center.

Mr. Truesdale passed away, Friday, September 8, at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Jesse Clyburn Truesdale and Wilma Outen Truesdale. He retired from Hermitage Mills after 45 years of service. He also served in the National Guard from 1962-1968.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Susan Coates and her husband Shean of Kershaw, Cynthia Busbee and her husband Sean of Cayce; 4 grandchildren, Reed Walker (Danielle), Lindsey Hollis (Zac), Garrett Coates (Jaimie) and Katie Coates (Adam); 3 great grandchildren, Andi, Bentley and Hartley; a sister, Judy (Wayne) Pate of Bethune; 4 brothers, Leon Truesdale of Cassatt, David (Wendy) Truesdale of Bethune, Adrian (Jane) Truesdale of Inman, Durand Truesdale of Flint, Michigan and his long time special friend and companion, Janice Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Artis Ann Truesdale.
