Eloise Johnston Riggins

Funeral services for Eloise Johnston Riggins, 87 of Columbia, SC, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in the sanctuary of Shandon Baptist Church. The Reverends Barry Gray and David Spears will officiate. An entombment committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum, Charleston, SC. Mrs. Riggins, widow of Keith Paul Riggins died peacefully Sunday, March 1, 2015, at her home. Born in Holly Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Hyotte Carey and Flossie Allean Blakeley Johnston. She was the owner of Riggins Catering in Summerville, SC, and was a master chef. She was also a member of Shandon Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Ken Riggins and his wife Fran of Santee, SC; two grandchildren, Vann Riggins of Charleston, SC and Jamie Godfrey and her husband Todd of Jacksonville, FL; a great granddaughter, Taylor Godfrey; special cousin, Frank Cannon and his wife Laurie and their children, Blakelee and Katelynn of Columbia; a brother, Olin Johnston of St. George, SC; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Keith Riggins, two brothers, Hyotte Johnston, Laverne Johnston and two sisters, Geraldine Marchant and Johnnie Law. The family would like to thank special nieces, Kaye and Faye Johnston and Hospice Advantage of Columbia for the love shown to Mrs. Riggins. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the church. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Riggins may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry – Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29206.
