Eloise Huggins Blackmon, age 91, of Bethune, S.C., passed away, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Westminster Memory Care, Lexington, S.C. Born in Hartsville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Doode Huggins and Edith Johnson Huggins. Mrs. Blackmon retired from the Kendall Company, Bethune Plant and Bethune Rural Water Company. She was a faithful member of Timrod Baptist Church, where she had previously served as church secretary. She also enjoyed being a member of the Goldenrods at the church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and cooking them delicious meals and desserts. Mrs. Blackmon was married to the late Keith Dewitt Blackmon, Sr. for 69 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Blackmon (Roger) Jenkinson and Pamela Blackmon (Frank) Hemphill and her son, Keith Dewitt Blackmon, Jr.; four grandchildren, Trey (Cameron) Hemphill, Matthew Jenkinson, Elizabeth Hemphill (Tyler) Wilson and Blake Jenkinson; a great grandchild, Bain Hemphill and a very special sister, Sharon (Johnny) Sturdivant. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Billie Newman, Anne Brown, and Patricia Dampier and two brothers, Byron Huggins, and Mendel Huggins.
The family will receive friends, Friday afternoon, January 26th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in Timrod Baptist Church Family Life Center.
A graveside service will follow the visitation, Friday, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Timrod Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jeremy Ussery will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
