Eleanor B. Watkins

Funeral services for Eleanor Baker “Snookie” Watkins, 76, of Bethune will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Timrod Baptist Church, Bethune. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Jackie Knight and Jim Wallace will officiate. Mrs. Watkins, widow of Bobby Fred Watkins, Sr. died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Whiteford and Lillie Roberts Baker. She was a member of Timrod Baptist Church. Mrs. Watkins enjoyed singing, sewing and spending time with her family. Surviving are her son; Bobby Fred Watkins, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Bethune, a daughter; Gail Watkins Hornsby of Kershaw, 4 grandchildren; Nicole “Niki” Sullivan and her husband Ashley of Lugoff , Bobby Fred” Bodie” Watkins, III of Bethune, Joshua Steven Allen and his wife Laura of Aynor, SC, Megan Watkins Rodgers and her husband Michael of Kershaw, 7 great grandchildren; Mallory, Jared, Belle, Walker, Tucker, Easton and Trotter, 4 sisters; Doris West of Kershaw, Odessa Faile of Kershaw, Betty Sue West and her husband Buck of Bethune and Shirley Connell of Kershaw , brother in law; Ted Watkins and his wife Joy of Bethune and numerous nieces and nephews including a special “daughter” Sandra Catoe of Bethune. She was preceded in death by 1 brother and 5 sisters. The family will receive friends, Friday, May 31, 2013, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other time at the home, 4069 Timrod Rd., Bethune. Memorials may be made to Timrod Baptist Church, 4227 Timrod Road, Bethune, SC 29009 or KershawHealth Hospice, 124 Battleship Road, Camden, SC 29020. The family would also like to thank Hospice nurse Renda Hodge and special caregiver; Elizabeth Haggins for the love and care shown to Mrs. Watkins.
