Funeral services for Edwin Lee Buddy Gibson, 71 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 23, 2008 in Flat Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Honors will be performed by S.C. Highway Patrol Honor Guard. The Revs. Bart Miles and Marvin Faile will officiate.

Born in Hartsville, Mr. Gibson died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his home. He was the son of the late Edwin Lee , Jr. and Mary Ellen Brand Gibson. Mr. Gibson served his country with 32 years of military service and also retired as a S.C. State Trooper with 21 years of service. He also served in Desert Storm. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Marine Corps League Det. # 1169, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, American Legion Post #31, S.C. State Trooper Association, American Association of State Troopers, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 15, past member of Masonic Lodge # 18 of Chester and a member of the Lancaster County Leathernecks. Mr. Gibson was honored to be an usher at Arlington National Cemetery for the service of the tomb of the unknown solider for World War II and Korean War soldiers, May 30, 1958.

Surviving are his wife; Patricia Ann Faile Gibson of the home, his children; Edwin Scott Gibson and his wife Pam of Garden City Beach, Robin Euree Harris of Kershaw, Kenneth Martin Gibson of Kershaw and Timothy Grant Gibson and his wife Pam of Germany, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister; Mary Helen Joyner and a brother J.D. Gibson both of Hartsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church, 3737 Victory Road, Kershaw.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 9497 Flat Creek Road.
