Funeral services for Edward Langley, 86, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 7, at Kershaw Church of God. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Doug Martin will officiate.
Mr. Langley died Monday, January 4, in Providence Hospital, Columbia. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late Carson and Eva Taylor Langley. Mr. Langley was retired from Springs Industries. He worked with Lancaster County E.M.S. for over 20 years and drove an ambulance for Cauthen Funeral Home. Mr. Langley had worked as a security guard for Haile Gold Mine. He was a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211 and a shriner. He was a platoon sergeant in the US Army serving during World War II and was a Lieutenant with the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Langey was a member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church and attended Kershaw Church of God. He also enjoyed doing electrical work .
Surviving are his wife; Vera Lee Ellis Langley of the home, four sons; Carl Langley (Kathy), Tommy Langley (Janice) , Carroll Langley (Debbie) and Mitchell Langley all of Kershaw, grandchildren; Michelle Arioli, Carlene Henderson, Courtney Sullivan, Kathy Dease, Meghan Langley, Amber Langley, Shaylynn Langley, Gage Langley, Billy Langley, Brian Langley, Amanda Langley, Desira Langley, Adrienna Langley, Shawn Langley and Shane Langley, fifteen great grandchildren, a sister; Elaine Watts of Kershaw and two brothers; Robert Langley of Kershaw and Howard Langley of Lancaster. He was preceded by a son; Butch Langley and a daughter; Robin Langley and two grandchildren; Everette Langley and Robin Langley.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, January 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
