Edward H. Coats

A graveside service for Edward H. Coats, 88, of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 13, 2012, in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Rev. Hope Avins will officiate. Mr. Coats died Thursday, May 10, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Ben Henry and Gertrude Fletcher Coats. He was retired from Dupont Co. and enjoyed farming. Mr. Coats was also a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Flat Rock Lodge # 178. He was married to the late Jewel Long Coats. Surviving are 3 sons, Randy Coats (Cindy) of Charleston, Benny Coats (Myra) of Kershaw and Barry Coats (Ami) of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, Dawn Coats, Corbett Coats, Duran Coats, Erin Coats and Kati Coats; 1 great grandson, Corbett James “ C.J. “ Coats, 1 sister, Geneva Fuquea of Ranger, GA. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 8 sisters and 1 brother. The family will receive friends, Saturday, May 12, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4167 Red Maple Road, Kershaw. (803-475-6162).
