Edward Blakeney

Graveside funeral services for Harry Edward “Ed” Blakeney, will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Bryant Fersner will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Parlor. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Mr. Blakeney died Wednesday, September 21. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Carvel Reid, Sr. and Catherine Cook Blakeney. Mr. Blakeney was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also a US Army Vietnam veteran serving with military intelligence and advisor to the South Vietnamese. He was a graduate of Clemson College and married to the late Josephine White Blakeney. Surviving are sons; Bob Blakeney (Sara) of Charlotte, N.C. and Paul Blakeney of Camden; grandchildren, Marshall and Maggie Blakeney; sister, Mrs. D.R. (Virginia) Case of Burlington, N.J.; brother, Reid Blakeney, Jr. (Nancy) of Lugoff. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth C. Blakeney.
