Earl Ferris Catoe, Sr.

Funeral services for Earl Ferris Catoe, Sr., 73, of 2986 Cane Mill Road, Lancaster will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, Kershaw. Burial will be in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Jesse Hegler will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Catoe died Sunday morning, November 22, 2009 at his home after a battle with cancer. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late William Ferris and Vivian Twitty Catoe. He retired from the Charleston County School System as a school administrator. He held a masters degree from Western Carolina University . Mr. Catoe was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kershaw where he served on the Buildings and Grounds committee and was an avid golfer. He was married to Sandra Clyburn Catoe, M.D.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are; two daughters; Karen Catoe Shore and her husband David of Durham, N.C., Jane Catoe and her partner Kevin Griffis of Charleston, two sons; Earl F. Catoe, Jr. and his wife Mary of Folly Beach and William H. Catoe and his friend Zeh of Folly Beach, five grandchildren; Kathryn Catoe, John Catoe, Elliott Catoe-Griffis, Jake Shore and Max Shore, a sister; Ellen C. Horton and her husband Cecil of Heath Springs and a brother; Billy Joe Catoe and his wife Judy of Lancaster, his mother-in-law; Dot Truesdale Clyburn of Kershaw and sister-in-law; Jane C. Holliday of Lancaster.
