Graveside services for Douglas Wayne Boone, 65, of Lancaster, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 13, 2011, in Taxahaw Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Marine Corps League. Rev. Jessie Adams will officiate. Active pallbearers will be George Taylor, Tim Roberts, Mike Robinson, Rick Montgomery, Ward Sturgis, James Stud Evans, Bill Jones and Kevin Squirrel McMurrary.

Mr. Boone died Friday, June 10, in Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia. Born in Great Falls, S.C., he was the son of the late Clennie Cleo and Katie Branham Boone. He was first employed with J.P. Stevens Co. in Great Falls and later with Duracell, Lancaster. He was also a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Boone served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife; Dorothy McManus Roberts Boone, 2 daughters; Melissa Boone of Davidson, N.C. and Rebecca B. Taylor and her husband George of Mooresville, N.C. , step daughter; Candy R. Robinson and her husband Mike of Lancaster, step-son; Tim Roberts of Lancaster, grandson; Weston Taylor of Mooresville, N.C., granddaughter; Grace Taylor of Mooesville, N.C., sister; Faye Carter and her husband Ernest of Rock Hill, and a number of step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home,
