A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy “Dottie” Lomax Hendricks, 85, of Bethune, will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethune, SC. Rev. Barbara Segars will officiate. Mrs. Hendricks, loving wife of the late A. Bernarr “Barney” Hendricks, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, at her home with her children by her side. Born in Salisbury, NC, she was the daughter of the late George William and Mamie Lanning Lomax. She retired from Kershaw County School District where she served as Food Service Manager for Bethune Elementary School. Mrs. Hendricks was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hendricks’s fun loving and cheerful personality always made you smile. She was known as “Miss Dottie” to the many children who came through the cafeteria at Bethune Elementary where she always offered extra if she knew something was your favorite or if you were celebrating a birthday. She also was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Surviving are her daughter; Beth Flick and her husband Jim of Marietta, GA., her son; George Hendricks and his wife Harriet of Holly Springs, NC, 2 grandchildren; Julie Hendricks Hoyes and her husband Jon of Pittsboro, NC, Robin Hendricks Jones and her husband Chris of Holly Springs, NC, 4 great-grandchildren; Landon, Caden and Gage Jones and Jade Hoyes, her nephews and niece; David Moskowitz, Daniel Moskowitz, Jim DeCarie, Joan Mendel and their families. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Yolie and Roxie. She was preceded in death by her sisters; LaGrande Moskowitz and Rachael DeCarie. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home, 400 N. Pickens Street, Bethune. The family would like to thank Louberta Mumford for her dedicated and loving care that she provided over the past several years. They would also like to thank Jeanette and Elizabeth Frazier and Jamie Owens for the loving care they recently provided. The family would also like to thank Renda Hodge and Melinda Williams for the care and concern shown in recent weeks with Hospice Care.
